Omnis Case Study One:
Peterborough Central - UTX
Partnership project to design and construct two deep access shafts associated with undertrack tunnel crossing. Works comprising construction of 8m deep 4.5m dia. reception shaft and a similar depth 9.5m dia. drive shaft constructed using pre-cast concrete segments installed employing ‘underpinning’ shaft construction as dictated by site space constraints, i.e. adjacent electrical substation and operational Network Rail tracks. The very close proximity of the River Nene necessitated constant pumping to deal with the heavy influx of ground water throughout construction.
